We have been following Rick Schwartz on Twitter for a long time and naturally took interest in the fallout between him and Domain Sherpa. How could you not take interest in something like this in an industry as small as ours.
We are big fans of Rick and his reputation is solid. So we reached out to him to here his story.
Here are his comments:
RADIO SILENCE is what started this entire fiasco and why it continues. Once communication lines are broken (and we did not break them nor do we even know why they were broken) NOTHING good happens. Things spin out of control. When you ignore something for months in private that you were expecting a response back and then you ignore in public, when they are right there at that moment, it is puzzling. A 3rd party did bad things and Mike Berkens and I are treated like we have leprosy and WE are the criminals!? We did nothing wrong other than contributing to his business.
What was our crime? We asked for clarification that we have been expecting for a long time. He could have just said he can't talk about it right now. He could have done many things. But ignoring the BOTH of us in this TINY industry after we contributed 100's of hours is BAD MANNERS and INEXCUSABLE. Plain and simple.
The last contact we had with Michael Cyger was in early March. There were no harsh words whatsoever. NONE! NEVER had a harsh word until this event. He invited me to his home this month in that last email to meet his family! So I was shocked, stunned, SADDENED and still am that he would not even give us the courtesy of a reply or even to say he could not reply right now. The last thing I expected was what transpired. I sit hear shaking my head and asking WHY??
I hate situations where everyone loses. I am not wired that way. I am wired for great outcomes. Well EVERYONE is a loser. And a simple, short acknowledgment and this could have all been avoided.
